it must be summer time. . .

I have noticed that of all the blogs I follow that very few of them are being updated on a regular basis like they were over the winter months. I guess that means we are all out of the house finally and getting to enjoy the outdoors. But what am I supposed to do all day at work when no one updates their blogs for me to read? Really do you expect me to work all day? That's just plain boring - so here is my plea out to all my fellow bloggers - PLEASE BLOG!!!

I guess that means I need to update and blog as well. Well not much is new with us. Our trip to Cali was fun. We sadly didnt make it to the beach nor did I get to visit all my friends. We did enjoy lots of time with the family, lots of yummy food and lots of card playing. Oh and we were able to make it to our favorite mexican restaurant. The guy who took our order was the same guy who took it 20 years ago! How crazy is that?

We were able to spend 3 full days and had 2 driving days. Why does the drive there seem to go so much faster than the drive home? On our drive home, when we were about 1.5hr from home, it was pitch black and we came around a bend in the road and there was this big shredded tire in the middle of the road. Chad handled it beautifully, however Miss Jetta did not. Her whole undercarriage is covered by a PLASTIC skid plate which was torn to pieces. But luckily no real damage to the car! When we got home we realized we had been dragging the plastic skid plate the rest of the way home.

I was really mad at the stupid semi driver who just left his blown tire in the middle of the road for someone to hit. Had it been me driving I probably would have swirved to miss the tire, then over corrected and rolled the car. Shouldn't people be responsible for the stuff they leave in the road? What if it had caused some horrible accident - shouldn't someone be responsible?

Well there is my update on the trip.

PS our garden is looking good! It looks like we will be getting green beans and sugar snap peas! YEAH!!

not that I am ready to go or anything

It is 2 days, 20 hours, 22 minutes and 20 seconds until Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 12:00:00 Noon (Salt Lake City time)

That is when we will be hitting the road for Sunny California! Can you tell I am excited? I miss California - born a Californian always a Californian!

Saturday

Saturday we woke up and realized we had absolutely no plans. What? How did that happen? There always seems to be a million things we are suppose to be doing or places we are supposed to be going.

I packed up a picnic lunch and we drove up Big Cottonwood canyon and had a lovely picnic along side the river. The water was flowing really fast and boy was it cold. I stuck my toes in for all of 2 seconds. It was so beautiful up the canyon, everything is green and the flowers are in bloom. After our picnic we drove up to the cabin and sat on the deck and enjoyed the beauty. It was awesome. My arms got totally sunburned because I am an albino and haven't seen the sun in FOREVER!

It was a very relaxing weekend and oh so beautiful outside. I would post a picture but I am way too fat - I saw the picture Chad took of me along side the water and wanted to throw the camera in the water! YUCK! So you will just have to picture the beauty in your own minds!

what the freak. . .

So Friday after work Chad and I went to go see 'Knowing' with Nicolas Cage. I am never one to rely upon the critics views of movies because movies that I hate they love and vice versa. So I don't even bother reading or finding out how many stars the film had - I just go if it sounds good to me.

I read the synopisis of the movie and it sounded like a suspense thriller.
SYNOPSIS
In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one mysterious girl fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.

Fifty years later, a new generation of students examines the capsule's contents and the girl's cryptic message ends up in the hands of young Caleb Koestler. But it is Caleb's father, professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As John further unravels the document's chilling secrets, he realizes the document foretells three additional events--the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve John and his son. When John's attempts to alert the authorities fall on deaf ears, he takes it upon himself to try to prevent more destruction from taking place.

Sounds kind of intriguing - right? I figured ok I can handle this right - I am a big girl. Well the first part of the movie it was getting fairly intense and interesting. Then bamm out of no where it went all sci fi weird and Chad and I looked at each other and said that was weird! It was like the original writer died and they hired some sci fi freak off the street to finish the movie. RANDOM!!

So beware if you are planning on renting this movie - it is not a true suspense/action it is total sci fi - sneaky little guys trying to get their geekness in on me. I will say it ends with a happy Tree of Life at the end.

WIERD is all I gotta say. Anyone else see it or was I the only Chump who saw it?

California bound. . .

So we are officially California bound in a mere 8 days! I am getting so excited to go. The last time we went to California was last May for my parents surprise Anniversary Party. So I am looking forward to getting some California sun. We hope to be able to make it to the beach for one day while we are down there. I am so pasty white that these legs could use some sun! We will also be hitting up our family's favorite mexican restaurant. Heaven knows that Utah is NOT known for good mexican food! Mexican food - Oh how I love thee!

My parents are throwing a going away party for Jack and Mandi before they move to Alabama for a year. It will be nice to see all my family again - it seems like way too long.

I just learned my granny will be in town too, she will be taking care of her 98yr old aunt. Wow that is old. I am going to have granny teach me how to make my great aunt's infamous fried pies. I remember when my great aunt would make them when we were kids and I was always so excited to eat them because they are fabulous! Apricot Pineapple fried pies - to die for!

I hope this next week goes by fast because I hate waiting! (imagine that! Some day I will master patience - I said SOMEDAY!! not today!)

Nothing to say. . .

So I feel like my life is so boring right now. I have nothing to say and nothing exciting to report.

Last night we had cub scouts at our house and we did a water ballon launcher, which was fun. I only did a few water ballons because it kills my fingers to tie the little buggers. So after the water ballons were gone the kids launched pine cones. With 3 pine trees in our front yard we have a plenitude of pine cones. Those were launching so high because they are so light. The boys seemed to have fun.

We had a new cub scout come last night. He is neighbors to one of our other cub scouts.

It always amazes me how open kids are and how they have no shame. So last night the new boy was talking with the other boys and I am not sure how this came up but he said yeah our car got towed. I asked what happened. Then one of the other boys said did your parents not pay the bills? I was shocked the boy would say that - how does he know about a car being repo'd if you don't pay the bills. Anyway the new boy said yeah I think that is what happened. My mom said she paid it but they still took the car. He was all sad and said now my family doesn't have a car.

These boys are only 8 years old and they know about these things? It was very sad to see the boy sad and to have to worry about not having a car.
