Dark ages

Yesterday we got a notice telling us that our electricity was going to be turned off on Saturday between 8am and 4pm. (yes I paid my bill). They are doing maintenance and have to turn off the power. Why on Saturday when more people are home and will be inconvenienced?

Don't they know that it is May 1st and that I need electricity? Don't they know that I have to get beach reservations at 9am sharp? STUPID PEOPLE - what is this the dark ages - how am I supposed to survive without electricity all day?

Growing up too fast

He is growing up too fast. I thought I would create a collage of all his month pictures. I didn't have an actual picture of him with a 1month sign but I chose a picture from around his 1st month date. He has changed so much so fast.

5 months old. . .

Bridger is now 5 months old.
Here he is on his rocking cow he got from his grandma Meemaw.

Bucking Cow - hold on baby!

He is getting stronger and stronger by the day. He has mastered eating his mush and loves it. He has also had sweet potatoes and bananas which he loves too. He will start giggling now when you play peek a boo with him. When we do a fake little laugh he just laughs and laughs like he wants to be a part of the fun.

This week we have initiated project "sleep through the night". Now that he is 5 months and eating solid food before he goes to bed, we figured he can sleep through the night. He goes to bed at 7pm and normally he wakes up to eat around 11 or midnight, then again at 5am. We decided the midnight feeding had to go. The first night he cried on and off from 10:30pm to 2:30am. It is so hard to let them cry, I know it is best for him (and us) to get him to sleep through the night, but it was not fun seeing him sad. The second night went much smoother, he woke up at 2:30am and fussed for less than an hour. He never really cried, it was more of a squaking/talking.

Tonight is night 3 and hopefully it will be even smoother and he will sleep through the night with out any fussing. By the weekend he should be sleeping through the night and everyone will be happy campers.

Saturday adventures

Saturday we went to the Gilgal Sculpture Garden in downtown Salt Lake. It is a very unique park, with random sculptures by Thomas Child Jr. We took a picnic lunch and enjoyed the quaint little park. Gilgal means "a circle of sacred stones". There are stones that pave the garden with scripture references. It was a fun park to visit.
Finally I have small feet.

After the park we to the Salt Lake City Library and saw the Anne Frank exhibit. It was very interesting and eye opening. Such a sad tale.

Cutest little guy. . .

It is getting warm out and he likes chillin' in his diaper.

Eating sweet potatoes for the first time. YUMMMM! Hurry up mommy - I WANT MORE!!!

Where did I leave my surf board? I am ready to hit the waves!

You talkin' to me?

Chillin' at the library reading a book.

Got my shades just like daddy!

I told you so!

So the day after I bought earthquake insurance on the house, Utah experienced a 4.0 earthquake. Granted we did not feel it at our house but I'm just saying it is coming I can feel it. = )

The Big One. . .

Over the last couple of weeks I have been thinking about all the earthquakes that have been happening around the world. We had a lesson in Church the other day on the signs of the Second Coming and we talked a lot about earthquakes as well. So needless to say earthquakes have been on my mind.

I remembered when my coworker bought his house a couple years ago and how he was going to purchase Earthquake insurance along with his homeowners policy. I kept thinking that I should call and find out how much it would be to get earthquake insurance, but I never got around to it.

Then Sunday they announce that they are going to do a combined meeting for Sunday School for all the adults. We are given the following scenario. It is mid day during the week and there is a massive earthquake (6+) and all the bridges to cross the Jordan River in the Salt Lake Valley are destroyed except for one. They then divided us up in groups depending on where you would be during the earthquake - Home, on the road or at work. They told us we had no cash on hand and our car was out of gas.

They then asked us what our plan was. Where would we meet our family? How would we get home? etc. it really got me thinking and worrying and stressing because we have no plan. Needless to say we are not prepared. Chad and I talked about coming up with a plan and what we needed to do, to buy etc to get prepared.

Today I called and added earthquake insurance onto our home owner's policy. It was not as expensive as I thought it would be. It was only $200 for the year on top of our current policy. Totally worth it for a little piece of mind.

Now we need to keep on planning. I don't know if the "Big One" is coming anytime soon, but with all the earthquakes going on I would rather be safe than sorry.

I then found this Click here.

It's what's for dinner. . .

This was our Saturday evening.

We tried to be semi healthy by eating salad and roasted broccoli with the burger. What you don't see is that we downed two bags of chips while the burgers were cooking and that no one really ate the salad or broccoli because the burger was so good.

Trying to rationalize this meal when it was all said and done. We looked at the calories for the bun that we didnt use vs the donut. The hamburger bun had 210 calories while the donut had 190. (good thing the donut had a hole in it i am sure that is where the 20 calorie difference was from).

This is what the burger was made out of. I wish I was standing next to it so you can see how massive this thing really is.

First Date Night

The other night we had our first real date night since we have had Bridger. We recieved Jazz tickets from a friend that I work with. It was a fun evening, not the most exciting game but we had a blast. The seats we had were really good, we were 3 rows below the appointed Jazz roudy cheering section. They sure livened up the game.

Giggles

Here is a video of Bridger giggling. Half way through I get poked in the eye and you can hear me say ouch!!!

Happy Easter

Here is a picture of Bridger opening his easter basket.

Our Easter Breakfast. We had homemade Strawberry syrup but I thought I would take the picture prior to the syrup so it didn't look like road kill.
