nothing to say. . .

So I really have nothing to say other than I am tired and so glad it is Friday. Tomorrow we are going to my sister-in-law's family cabin for the weekend. It should be very quite and relaxing. Oh how I love to play cards and games - that should be the bulk of the weekend.

Picky eater. . .

I never thought of myself as a picky eater but last night I was informed that I was picky.

So we were at the store and we made the mistake of going down the ice cream isle. At first we are just looking and drooling over the ice cream. Chad sees a blueberry and pomegranate and he wants to try it. I see tin roof sundae and think that sounds really yummy. So we decide to get some ice cream and I tell Chad to choose two and I will make the decision between the two he chooses. I tell him one can be fruity and the other not. Thinking he would chose the blueberry and pomegranate and my tin roof that I was eyeing and then I could just pick my tin roof sundae. But no he chooses the blueberry and pomegranate one and butter pecan. I don't like butter pecan all that much and was not in the mood for fruity ice cream - I wanted my tin roof sundae. So I tell him to choose a third thinking for sure he would pick my tin roof sundae. But no he chooses rocky road and I am not a huge fan of marshmallows. So he then said my next choice would be some cherry thing - and I don't like cherries unless they are fresh produce.

I never realized how picky I am. So how did we solve this huge dilemma? Well we got two - I got my tin roof sundae and he got his blueberry and pomegranate.

So we get home and we are eating our ice cream and chad asks do you want to try my blueberry and pomegranate? I said no. He was all shocked! I can tell he is a little annoyed and I know he wanted to try mine. So I finally ask Do you want to try mine? His eyes light up like a little boy on Christmas morning and says yes. I give him a bite and deep down he knows mine was better. I guess we will see in the next week or so as he serves himself some of my ice cream!

Snowboarding

This week has been crazy at work with some long hour days, so I skipped out of work early and went snowboarding with Chad today. I was excited to be able to go snowboarding with Chad. I am not a big fan of Snowbird because it is such a difficult mountain and has tons of terrain.

It was a beautiful day, sunny and warmish. Chad took me out on some new terrain to help me get use to some of the runs at Snowbird.

Here is a picture of Chad and I riding the Gadzoom lift and a video of the beautiful mountains and a little bit of snowboarding by me. Let's just say I am out of shape and my legs were killing me.

Pine Wood Derby

Wednesday night we had our cub scout pine wood derby. This was our second year as cub scout leaders. It was fun to watch the boys have so much fun racing their cars.

After the official race was over and the winners had received their trophies they allowed a free for all race. Everyone just lined up to race their cars and went in order. We were on our way out and I saw this boy who was crying his eyes out. You would have thought someone had just died or something. He was holding his car in one hand and a wheel in the other hand. I had to control myself from laughing because I could not believe how sad this poor boy was. He took the car to his mom and she had it fixed within a minute but man I think that boy thought the world had ended!

Draper Temple

My friend sent me this link to a news piece on the Draper Temple that was aired on ABC the other night.

Since our stake is now assigned to the Draper Temple, our stake is in charge of two full days of gathering volunteers to host the Open House. Jan 21st and Feb 19 Chad and I get to be volunteers. Chad will be working the parking areas and I get to be an Usher in the temple. I am pretty excited! I use to be a receptionist (not the answering phone type - just helping guide people) at the LA and South Jordan temple. I loved being in the temple and the peace I would feel there.

I am surprised at what a production they are putting on for this temple open house. I think it has to do with all the controversy the Chruch has experienced over the last couple of months from Prop 8. We were told that there were going to be a lot of protesters at this Open House.

So if any of you are going to the Open House this is what you will experience. First your tickets specify where you should park in one of 3 Church parking lots. You will enter into the Church where you will watch a short video. Once the video is over you will load onto a bus, which will take you to the temple. While on the bus there will be a volunteer worker who will read a script that will last the entire bus ride to the temple. Once at the temple you will enter into the temple at the baptistry entry and work your way up to the 2nd floor. You will be taken into an actual sealing room and there will be a couple there that will give a 3min talk on the sealing ceremony. You will exit the temple from the main entrance and there will be tents covering the walkway to the Stake center behind the temple. You will be taken into the cultral hall where they have converted it into a mini visitor's center. They will then be serving refreshments for all the visitors. They said the whole experience from parking your car, to the bus ride up and down and back to your car takes an hour and a half.

I remember going to the Las Vegas temple open house and it was nothing compared to the layout for the Draper temple open house.

I think it is going to be awesome and I can't wait. I am actually going on the tour Friday (16th) with my sister. It will be good to experience it before I volunteer next Wednesday.

hide a key. . .

So this morning I locked chad out of the house on accident. How you ask?

Well as I was leaving I saw the trash man coming and Chad had forgotten to put the trash out last night. So I called to Chad and said come put the trash out as I was walking out the door to work. As he was coming out of the house I yelled - "Don't close the door because it is locked" because out of habit I had already locked the lock on the door handle as I was walking out.

Well he was so focused on beating the trash man to the street with the trash can he didn't hear me. As he was putting the trash out I drove away. Well right when I got to the parking lot at work I get a phone call from a number I don't recognize and think who would be calling me at 7:30am? Well it was Chad - he had gone to the neighbors house and used the phone in his pajamas and bed head mind you. He said he was locked out and I laughed. I said "didn't you hear me tell you not to close the door?" - obviously not!

Pictures

So I decided that one of my new year's resolutions would be to take more pictures. I have gotten lazy about taking pictures since Chad is always taking pictures with his camera. The problem with that is that I never see the pictures once he takes them and puts them on his computer.

It has been so long since I have used my camera, that I found pictures from last Thanksgiving from our deep sea fishing trip, our first Christmas (last year), before and after pictures of my bunionoctomy surgery, snowboarding last March going through the peruvian tunnel at Snowbird, and pictures of the Fechner's from March when they came up with all my family for Easter last year.

This is our fishing trip minutes before Chad started puking his guts out.

The two fish I caught.

Chad's big surprize present - his new laptop.

Christmas presents in use. .

Yesterday I spent the day putting some of my Christmas presents to use. My parents gave us a Shelf Reliance food shelf.

When they were last here visiting they saw the boxes of can goods we had stored in a mess under our stairs. I guess that was a hint to get organized. So I finally got it all organized yesterday and now we need to go shopping to finish filling it up.

Friday night I got a new Christmas present, it was a Sushezi. Chad had ordered it from his brother and he brought it down with him when he came to stay for the weekend.

Last night we tried it out and we had a bit of a sushi party. I am not a huge raw fish girl, so instead I made a lettuce chicken wrap filling and used that for our filling in our sushi. I also made avocado/cucumber rolls. For dessert we did sweet coconut milk rice and for the filling we put in mango, lime and blood orange. YUM!!

Here are some pictures of the process. It was so sushezi!
