Most of you have heard by now that our little guy, Bridger David Jones finally made his appearance on Saturday November 21st at 6:50pm. He weighed 8lbs 1oz and is 20.5 inches long.
Saturday morning I woke up around 3am with a few contractions and despite how many times I have said I was ready for this kid to come out already, I will admit when I had those first few real contractions I thought to myself - I am NOT ready for this!!
After the 2 or 3 contractions at 3am, I fell back to sleep but was awake at 6:30am on a Saturday. I was annoyed that I was awake at that hour, but got up and watched a little TV. As I was laying on the couch I noticed the baby was not really moving. I got up and had some juice to try and stimulate the baby but no such luck.
Around 10am I went and woke Chad up and told him I wasn't feeling the baby and he said lets just go to the hospital and get checked out. So we got dressed and headed to the hospital. When we got there around 11am, it was really dead luckily and they got us right in and hooked up to the monitors. The baby's heart rate was perfect and he started moving around. Despite the baby looking great, my blood pressure was really high. The monitors were also showing that I was having contractions as well. I felt a few but they were pretty light, but in the hour or so we were there they were definetely picking up. When the nurse checked me I was dialated to a 4 and 90% effaced.
They ran some tests that all came back normal but for some reason my blood pressure was way too high. They called my dr and once again he was out of town and was not on call. The nurse contacted the on call dr and he said we were staying. The dr came in at 1:45pm to check me and he said he was going to break my water and he said I was already dialated to a 7. I went from a 4 to 7 in just 2 hours. Once my water was broke the contractions were kicked up a notch and there was about 30 min of misery and then the drug dr came and gave me a lovely epidural! ahhh I love that dr!!
The dr came back in at 6pm and started stretching me and I started pushing and the next thing I knew the baby was out.
It all happened so fast. I thought we would be at the hospital for an hour or so to get checked out and the next thing I knew the baby was in my arms.
