Saturday

Saturday we woke up and realized we had absolutely no plans. What? How did that happen? There always seems to be a million things we are suppose to be doing or places we are supposed to be going.

I packed up a picnic lunch and we drove up Big Cottonwood canyon and had a lovely picnic along side the river. The water was flowing really fast and boy was it cold. I stuck my toes in for all of 2 seconds. It was so beautiful up the canyon, everything is green and the flowers are in bloom. After our picnic we drove up to the cabin and sat on the deck and enjoyed the beauty. It was awesome. My arms got totally sunburned because I am an albino and haven't seen the sun in FOREVER!

It was a very relaxing weekend and oh so beautiful outside. I would post a picture but I am way too fat - I saw the picture Chad took of me along side the water and wanted to throw the camera in the water! YUCK! So you will just have to picture the beauty in your own minds!

what the freak. . .

So Friday after work Chad and I went to go see 'Knowing' with Nicolas Cage. I am never one to rely upon the critics views of movies because movies that I hate they love and vice versa. So I don't even bother reading or finding out how many stars the film had - I just go if it sounds good to me.

I read the synopisis of the movie and it sounded like a suspense thriller.
SYNOPSIS
In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one mysterious girl fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.

Fifty years later, a new generation of students examines the capsule's contents and the girl's cryptic message ends up in the hands of young Caleb Koestler. But it is Caleb's father, professor John Koestler (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As John further unravels the document's chilling secrets, he realizes the document foretells three additional events--the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve John and his son. When John's attempts to alert the authorities fall on deaf ears, he takes it upon himself to try to prevent more destruction from taking place.

Sounds kind of intriguing - right? I figured ok I can handle this right - I am a big girl. Well the first part of the movie it was getting fairly intense and interesting. Then bamm out of no where it went all sci fi weird and Chad and I looked at each other and said that was weird! It was like the original writer died and they hired some sci fi freak off the street to finish the movie. RANDOM!!

So beware if you are planning on renting this movie - it is not a true suspense/action it is total sci fi - sneaky little guys trying to get their geekness in on me. I will say it ends with a happy Tree of Life at the end.

WIERD is all I gotta say. Anyone else see it or was I the only Chump who saw it?

California bound. . .

So we are officially California bound in a mere 8 days! I am getting so excited to go. The last time we went to California was last May for my parents surprise Anniversary Party. So I am looking forward to getting some California sun. We hope to be able to make it to the beach for one day while we are down there. I am so pasty white that these legs could use some sun! We will also be hitting up our family's favorite mexican restaurant. Heaven knows that Utah is NOT known for good mexican food! Mexican food - Oh how I love thee!

My parents are throwing a going away party for Jack and Mandi before they move to Alabama for a year. It will be nice to see all my family again - it seems like way too long.

I just learned my granny will be in town too, she will be taking care of her 98yr old aunt. Wow that is old. I am going to have granny teach me how to make my great aunt's infamous fried pies. I remember when my great aunt would make them when we were kids and I was always so excited to eat them because they are fabulous! Apricot Pineapple fried pies - to die for!

I hope this next week goes by fast because I hate waiting! (imagine that! Some day I will master patience - I said SOMEDAY!! not today!)

Nothing to say. . .

So I feel like my life is so boring right now. I have nothing to say and nothing exciting to report.

Last night we had cub scouts at our house and we did a water ballon launcher, which was fun. I only did a few water ballons because it kills my fingers to tie the little buggers. So after the water ballons were gone the kids launched pine cones. With 3 pine trees in our front yard we have a plenitude of pine cones. Those were launching so high because they are so light. The boys seemed to have fun.

We had a new cub scout come last night. He is neighbors to one of our other cub scouts.

It always amazes me how open kids are and how they have no shame. So last night the new boy was talking with the other boys and I am not sure how this came up but he said yeah our car got towed. I asked what happened. Then one of the other boys said did your parents not pay the bills? I was shocked the boy would say that - how does he know about a car being repo'd if you don't pay the bills. Anyway the new boy said yeah I think that is what happened. My mom said she paid it but they still took the car. He was all sad and said now my family doesn't have a car.

These boys are only 8 years old and they know about these things? It was very sad to see the boy sad and to have to worry about not having a car.

Easter Fun

Saturday we spent the morning with Chad's family. We hid eggs for the kids and they hunted them down. Then we had a lovely lunch. After we hung out with the Jones' we headed to the Ogden Temple with Jack and Mandi to do some work for our relatives. After the temple we went to Beto's mexican hole in the wall - my favorite!

Sunday morning my sister and I dyed eggs, which we haven't done in quite a while. It was fun and I think some of my eggs turned out really cool.

Then Chad and I hid the eggs for Jack and Mandi. We have no kids so Jack and Mandi got to be the kids. It was fun to really hide the eggs and make them really work to find them. Chad hid one so well in the grass that even after he showed me where he hid it, I still could not see it. I ended up tripping over it when I was trying to help Mandi find it.

After dinner we watched the Original Ten Commandments, which we had recorded from Saturday evening. It was 4hrs and 44min - crazy long. luckily I was able to fast forward through the commercials. I do enjoy watching that movie cheese and all. Chad's favorite part is when the girls dance and swing their hair around - he thinks it is ultra cheesy - which it is!

We had a good Easter and it was nice to reflect upon our Savior and all he did for us.

Life is a test. . .

Life is a test on how you treat people.

Today I learned that one of our cub scouts' dad passed away suddenly without warning on Saturday. They were together as a family at a family cabin. I wonder what was the last communication between the dad and his wife and kids. It made me think back over my life especially the last couple of days and to think how I treated the ones I love the most. As I evaluated my words and actions I learned I have a lot to learn and do to ensure the ones I love know that I love them.

Then today a girl at work who frequently annoys me was really annoying me. She is constantly trying to show off and be the center of attention. When I announced last year that I was pregnant she had just told people that she was not ready to be a mother yet. Yet 8 weeks later she was pregnant and showing off her ultrasound to everyone.
Today she was showing off pictures of how they painted the nursery. She was intent on making sure everyone in the office saw them and that no one felt left out. When she asked if I wanted to see them I first got mad because I felt like she was just trying to rub it in my face that she is prego and that I am not. I had written a response to her in my anger then thought I better not. I felt like she was rubbing my face in it but I decided to be the bigger person and not say anything. I hope she was not trying to hurt me and just wasn't thinking of the pain it would cause me.

Also today my friend told me of something really stupid someone said to her brother. It floored me that someone of LDS beliefs, who just returned from a mission could say something so cruel and un-Christlike. It also made me evaluate my words to see if I ever say something that would be un-Christlike or painful to someone else.

I guess this was a lesson I needed to learn because 3 times the Lord was proving a point to me today. Hopefully I can catch on and try to treat others with a little more love.

Spring is here

Well I am trying to pretend that spring is here. Saturday morning we woke up to snow, which needless to say put a damper on my day. Luckily it was conference and we got to stay home and vegge on the couch while listening to conference.

Today I decided it was time to plant my seeds for my garden. I have tried for the last 3 years to get green beans and sugar snap peas to grow and I have had no luck. I learned 2 years ago that you can NOT transplat the little buggers. So last year I planted them in big pots and I got 4 or 5 foot vines but then I forgot to water them. If they are not in the garden on the sprinkler system they are a gonner. I can not be held responsible to remember to water something on a regular basis hence the lovely drip system Chad installed for the garden. So needless to say those lovely long vines did not last long.

Well it is suppose to be nice this week, so I went out on the wild side and finally planted the green beans and sugar snap peas in the garden. Lets just pray the snow is over and done with for the season and I can get some home grown green beans this year!
