Weeds

So along with Spring comes weeds and yard work. No wonder I like winter more than Spring - there are no weeds.

I spent last night doing some of my yard work that should have been done last fall. I raked up leaves and pine needles, pulled out some dead plants and even pulled up weeds. How can we already have weeds? It is not even spring yet!

I am not sure if I am ready for weed season! I hate pulling weeds. Perhaps when my visiting teacher comes over I will tell her to pull my weeds when she tells me my house is messy!

Spring Fever

Yesterday when I got in my car it was actually toasty warm and it made me have spring fever. Today was the most perfect day. I slept in, cleaned house a bit, went snowboarding with Chad and now I am enjoying the Jazz game.

Today was a spring skiing day - it was 45ish, so it was no jacket weather! The sky was so blue and the mountains were so white with the fresh snow from the last storm. I just wanted to sit on the mountain and take in all the beauty.

there is someone in the house. . .

So this morning my alarm goes off and I am trying to convince myself to get out of bed and get in the shower. The only light in the house is the light coming from the stupid street light across the street, which shines right in through the long window next to our front door and shines right onto the hallway wall.

As I was laying there I see this shadow in the hallway. I can't tell if the shadow is outside reflecting in or inside the house. Then all of a sudden I see this figure in the hallway and they walk to our bedroom and close our bedroom door. My whole body is completely petrified but I manage to move one arm over to feel if Chad is in bed with me. I reach over and he is there!!

So I muster up the stregnth to whisper there is someone in the house! Chad literally flies out of bed and as his feet finally hit the ground he runs into the end of the bed and collapses to the floor. He flies back up and is out the bedroom door ready to attack the intruder. As he runs out of the bedroom he yells "CALL 911". I fumble for my phone and try and get it open so I can call 911.

I am so freaked out because my husband just went out of the bedroom to attack this intruder. Thinking the guy could have a gun or a knife! As I go to make the call I hear my sister's voice in the kitchen and I remember that she spent the night last night.

As soon as Chad had flown out of the bedroom and was ready to attack my poor sister who was in the kitchen. They both look at each and realize what has just happened and my sister says "I can't believe you forgot I was here".

all 7's and 8's

What constitutes a perfect 10? That is my question!

When we first got married we listened to these talks by a Marriage Counselor on CD that a friend had suggested. In one of the talks he talked about rating things so that we know how each other feels on activities, outings, food, etc. The rating is a simple 1 to 10 scale with 10 being the best ever!

It really is a great tool because you know when you will say you will do something but are not really into it but will do it because you feel like your husband wants to do it. But your husband only suggested it because he thought you wanted to do it. Well by simply asking what is your rating - and he says 6 and you say 2 you know you don't have to do it and deep inside you have a sigh of relief!!

Whenever I concocte something new up for dinner I ask Chad so what would you rate it? Chad is not a picky eater and will pretty much eat anything. But he does love to analzye flavors and how well they meld with each other. So when I ask the question he starts his analysis in his head and ponders the flavors. Then he comes back with 7's, 8's sometimes with 8.5 and 9's.

Tonight when I asked I only got a 7. It was a little sad because I thought it was super yummy and deserved atleast an 8.5! So I asked him what meal would get a 10? In over a year I have never gotten a 10. Is my cooking only mediocre? Do I have to attend culinary school in order to qualify for a perfect 10?

I didn't get a response. So if any of you have a great recipe that you think would get me a 10 I would appreciate it! Someday I will get a 10!!

How are you doing and Mozzarella Cheese

Can I just tell you how tired I am of people asking the question "how are you doing?" accompanied with the head tilt of pity!

Saturday was not a good day! Nothing was going right at all. I tried finishing the roman shade that I made for Chad for his birthday in December. I had some complications and was getting frustrated and grumpy.

Then I started stressing because the house was a mess and we were not even close to being ready to meet Chad's family for the temple open house. I got even more stressed when we were running late.

My emotions were on edge and I just was not in the mood to talk to anyone. I just wanted to crawl back into bed and throw the covers over my head. (you know those kind of days!!)

I barely survived the temple open house with Chad's family and just wanted to run to Costco to get mozzarella cheese so I could make my meatball sub sandwiches on ciabatta bread for dinner. Well we finally make it to Costco and it was a mad house - why did I try and attempt to go to Costco on a Saturday - I know better! Well we needed two things cheese and ciabatta bread. In and out no problem, right?

We found the bread and went to get the cheese. We get to the cheese aisle and they are clean out of shredded mozzarella cheese! How can Costco be out of cheese? I just stand there in disbelief and start crying!

I know that it is not normal to cry over a store being out of an item but why the one item I needed? Nothing was going my way at all that day - why couldn't they just have cheese so i could make dinner? Is it so hard to keep cheese stocked?

I try and find some composure and make it to the check out line. I order a pizza at checkout since i could not make my fabulous meatball subs!

Chad goes and waits for the pizza and I sit at the table and cry.

Chad tries to console me but really how do you console someone that is crying because a store is out of cheese?

As we sit down for dinner and I start to pray - I completely lose it and cry harder than I have ever cried before!

So please don't ask me "how are you doing?" (with a tilted head) I don't know how I am doing - obviously I was having a bad day since I was crying over Mozzarella cheese. Not normal! I felt better after I had a good cry and made some homemade chocolate ice cream with junior mints.

inflammed right thumb. . .

So the other night we were watching the Jazz game and I of course went to bed early because I am an old lady and can't stay awake past 9pm (unless a card game is involved!). Chad finished watching the game and recorded the end of it for me so I could watch it the next day. I watched it and commented to Chad on how Breva Knight had ingured his right thumb. Out of no where he started laughing and laughing. I asked what was so funny and he said I thought they said he had an inflamed rectum NOT an inflammed right thumb. He could not figure out why they would announce such a thing on television! He said he felt so bad for Breva and how humiliated he must be for people to be talking about his inflamed rectum.

Today I was upstairs working on my computer and Chad was downstairs and I yelled someone is at the door. He came running upstairs and tried to kiss me goodbye. I was confused why he was not answering the door - so again I said there is someone at the door. He said "Oh I thought you said you were going to the store".

So after he answered the door I asked him how his inflamed rectum was. We both laughed!

That is one injury you don't want announced on national television!
